A native of suburban Chicago, Jay came to UW-Madison after earning a B.S. in Meteorology from the University of Oklahoma. He completed his masters thesis entitled A comparison of GOES WF_ABBA and MODIS fire products in December 2006, and become a full-time member of the CIMSS Biomass Burning group January 2007.

His work primarily focusses on GOES-R ABI fire product development, global fire product intercomparisons, NRL fire product support, and other miscellaneous projects.

Jason earned his B.S. and M.S. in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences from the UW-Madison. He became a member of the CIMSS Biomass Burning group in January 2005.

His Biomass Burning work focuses primarily on trend analyses of fires over the Western Hemisphere and other regions of the world. In addition, Jason works on a Fire Radiative Power Product and a Fire Potential Product. He also assists in user requests for data and other miscellaneous fire projects.
